Matthew J. Swedick

Matthew, a Capital District native, attended Yale University where he played football and graduated in 1994 with a degree in Political Science. After graduation, he attended Albany Law School. He concentrated in Constitutional and Criminal Law and received his law degree in 1997.

He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1998. From 1999 through 2007, Matthew defended thousands of indigent clients in the county and local courts while working for the Albany County Public Defender’s Office. In 2007, he opened his own firm concentrating on criminal defense.

Matthew has successfully represented clients who have been charged with violent felonies from assault, weapons, and sex offenses to clients charged with fraud, financial (“white collar”) crimes, larcenies, and drugs sales/possessions. Matthew’s practice also includes clients charged with vehicular offenses such as DWI/DWAI Drugs and those clients alleged to have violated their parole/probation sentences.

Matthew is also a member of various legal associations, such as the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York State Defender’ Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Albany County Bar Association
